Description
Constructing a Successful Career:
Common challenges and solutions for ‘project based’ workflow
The days of gaining a relevant qualification, securing a related job and staying still are long gone. Government agencies are continually looking to be lean and contract in advice. Universities have fewer tenured roles and researchers are under pressure to find projects to fund their own salary. Consulting is competitive and the workflow unpredictable.
This panel discussion provides a platform to share ideas on what can assist junior and mid-career professionals build a successful career in this environment. Drawing on the experiences of individuals in consulting, academic and government employment, the panel explores mechanisms to manage these pressures. The panel discussion will be chaired by Dr Alexandra Peralta and also engage in a Q&A before mixing informally.
Panel members include:
- Dr Julian Morison, former principal of EconSearch
- John Kandulu, BDO and formerly CSIRO
- Dr Alec Zuo, University of Adelaide
- Melissa Bright, Adelaide Hills Council
